编译glibc时遇到的问题

本人正在初学 lfs , 编译glibc 时发现在教程中的 configure 选项中有--disable-profile
   
资料上对于该选项的解释是：

--disable-profile
    禁用 profiling 信息相关的库文件编译。Glibc-2.3.6 默认为 enable，Glibc-2.4/2.5/2.6/2.7 默认为disable

`--disable-profile'
     Don't build libraries with profiling information.  You may want to
     use this option if you don't plan to do profiling.


但是小弟仍然不明白 --disable-profile 的作用？

--enable-profile 又会怎样？ "禁用profiling 信息相关的库文件编译"具体指什么？
