The last speaker was a real windbag.  By the end of his talk we were all bored to tears.

The hunters spent all day out beating the bushes for quail, but didn't find a single one.
They don't make this model of car anymore.  I really have to beat the bushes to get spare parts for it.

Football is my favorite sport.  Whenever there is a home game, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be there.

The snow is beginning to fall pretty fast.  If we hope to get home tonight, we'd better go while the going is good.
