So far only appears to be on ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu but should sync to other soon.
Package: kernel kernel-BOOT kernel-doc kernel-enterprise kernel-secure kernel-smp kernel-source
Updated: Tue Feb 4 15:47:45 2002
Importance: bugfix
An updated kernel for 9.0 is available with a number of bug fixes. Supermount has been completely overhauled and should be solid on all systems. Other fixes include XFS with high memory, a netfilter fix, a trap fix, a fix for Sony VAIO DMI, i845 should now work with UDMA, and new support
for VIA C3 is included.
Note: Just a note for Bill R. and his Vaio he told me about today... maybe this will help. -- TheDarb"

Just remember that kernel-BOOT is not intended for installed systems, it's a minimal kernel used for installations.

Good point...
* kernel-BOOT is for installs
* kernel-doc is self explanatory
* kernel-enterprise is for large systems with huge ammounts of ram.
* kernel-secure is for your perimeter systems or paranoid systems administrators... (just because you're paranoid *doesn't* mean they aren't out to hack you...)
* kernel-smp is for multi-intel processing machines.
* kernel-source, yet another self explanatory one.

Supermount is back!!! Excellent!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Supermount fixed? You promise?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, this is about the 64th fix for supermount.

Yes supermount is back. I've been banging on this kernel for a few days now. Both the smp and the standard one and the kernel is very nice and supermount works great. I even ejected the cdrom as root durring a bunch of file copying and it didn't even phase the kernel. As soon as I put the media back in supermount continued to see it correctly. I did have to tell it to skip files while the cdrom was out though. At least is no longer stops seing the cdroms. |
