For this system is just used for myself, I insist that the installer should deal with binary file.
So, to d00m3d: This installer just do the work like:install pkg, create user....

I don't use UB and I don't know how it works.

The Kanotix installer is capable to upgrade your existing system, replace relevant packages with new ones without destroying your user accounts. You may even preserve certain directories if you wish.

I just wonder if the UB installer may do similar jobs or such installer merely install packages to your HDD.  This comes to my previous question, can UB installer upgrade your existing system?

Ｎｏ, it can't.
From your description, I feel that the Kanotix's installer is very powerfull.

Maybe I should take a look at the source of it!

More precisely, if you have previous installed system, will this installer preserve your previous user accounts, home directories etc?

只要你的/home是单独的一个分区，当然可以继续使用。从已有的系统上升级就不大可能了。

不过还是觉得sourcemage比较好。。学习学习。。

只要你的/home是单独的一个分区，当然可以继续使用。从已有的系统上升级就不大可能了。

這方面正是 Kanotix installer 過人之處，它讓你從已有的系統上升級而不損用戶設置，也是最值得借鏡的地方。

如果oliver完全采用sourcemerge的话就会成为另一个lfs或gentoo，如果采用bianries和sources兼顾的话那就会和arch差不多了。所以oliver究竟应该望那个方向发展还得再考虑考虑。
