新内核无法启动

编译后的新内核启动时显示如下信息
*** Virtual machine kernel stack fault (hardware reset) ***
The virtual machine just suffered a stack fault in kernel mode. On a real computer, this would amount to a reset of the processor. It can be caused by an incorrect configuration of the virtual machine, a bug in the operating system, or a problem in the VMware Workstation software.
  

附上我的编译信息
在VMware 5.5(英文)上安装Red Hat 9.0(linux-2.4.20.-8) 编译的新内核linux-2.6.0
内核编译过程中没有任何问题 生成的镜像文件也正确 可是重新启动的时候显示上边的提示 高手
能说说吗 ?先行谢过!

可能是VMWare对2.6版的内核支持不太好吧。
