Localization and xsim

Is it possible to use xsim and not have to set LANG=zh_CN?  I wish to have an English enviroment, but be able to enter chinese in certain applications (Mozilla, Sylpheed, Gaim, etc. ).  Currently I must set LANG=zh_CN, which turns all my menus into Chinese and causes Mozilla to have a very ugly font in the menu's.  Any help is appreciated.  (Sorry for typing in English, still getting xsim set up).
