请教一个pthread_mutex_destroy的问题

在APUE上看到说，如果是动态分配的pthread_mutex_t，那么就要在free()之前用pthread_mutex_destroy来销毁，如果是静态的pthread_mutex_t，就没必要这样。哪位大侠解释下为什么是这样？谢谢！
